Mumbai: Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama ‘Maatrubhumi’ has reportedly received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for its trailer, fuelling speculation that the promo could be unveiled on November 6.
According to Variety India, the trailer has been granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC. The 4-minute-and-43-second promo is reportedly scheduled to release on Friday.
Meanwhile, discussions around the film’s theatrical release are still underway.
The makers are reportedly awaiting the necessary clearances to bring the Salman Khan-starrer to cinemas at the earliest.
The film is said to have undergone multiple revisions after the Ministry of Defence raised concerns about certain aspects of its original storyline.
The changes reportedly resulted in a revised narrative that portrays India-China relations in a more favourable light.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film was initially titled Battle of Galwan.
It draws inspiration from the 2020 military clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The film was originally scheduled for an April release but was subsequently postponed indefinitely.
The makers reportedly explored other release windows, including the Independence Day weekend, but the film failed to arrive in theatres as planned.
In July, Salman Khan Films had dismissed reports suggesting that the film was facing CBFC-related hurdles. The production house clarified that Maatrubhumi had not even been submitted to the certification board at the time.
While obtaining the government’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) marks an important step towards its release, the film must still secure the necessary CBFC certification before it can hit theatres.
According to the report, the makers are considering November 13, 2026, as the film’s tentative theatrical release date, a week after Diwali. However, an official announcement is still awaited.
