Mumbai: Six-and-a-half years after Bajrangi Bhaijaan was released, Salman Khan announced a sequel to the film which went on to become a huge hit.
The Bollywood superstar made the revelation at a pre-release event in Mumbai for SS Rajamouli’s upcoming movie ‘RRR’.
Besides Salman, Sunday’s event was attended by SS Rajamouli, Alia Bhatt, JR NTR, Ram Charan and Karan Johar.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which released in theatres on July 16, 2015, turned out to be one of Salman’s highest grossers with an estimated box office collection of Rs 300 crore.
Co-written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and Kabir Khan, and directed by Kabir, Bajrangi Bhaijaan also featured Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and little Harshaali Malhotra, who stole everyone’s heart playing the role of a mute six-year-old Pakistani Muslim girl who gets lost and crosses over to India by mistake.
The story, which traced how Hanuman devotee Salman, in the role of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, overcame multiple challenges to take the six-year-old back to her parents in Pakistan, struck a chord with the audience.
