Bhubaneswar: The Sufiana and devotional music festival Samarpan concluded on Monday.
Organised by Bhubaneswar Music Circle and supported by Odisha Tourism, the valedictory evening showcased Bargeet and devotional music from Assam by Sangeeta Chamuah. Bargeet translates to Songs Celestial in Assamese.
She was accompanied by Srinivas Satpathy on flute, Bhabatosh Mahanty in guitar and Dotara; Dr Tapash Paul in Tabla, Rabi Narayan Barik in Dholak and Pramod Sahoo on percussion.
The evenings last presentation was Abhang Rang by Pandit Sanjiv Abhyankar. Abhang is devotional poetry sung in praise of Lord Vittala or Vithoba. He was accompanied by Apurv Dravid in Side Rhythm; Ajinkya Joshi on tabla and Abhinay Ravande on harmonium.
The evening was attended by Member, Central Administrative Tribunal, Allahabad Bench, Gokula Chandra Pati; eminent Tabla Player Umesh Chandra Kar; president Bhubaneswar Music Circle Aurobinda Behera and general secretary, Bhubaneswar Music Circle, Khirod Patnaik.
