Sambalpur: The vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Block Education Officer (BEO) of Kuchinda block of Sambalpur district for illegal gratification.
The accused has been identified as Prafulla Kumar Nayak, serving as BEO at Kuchinda block of Sambalpur district.
Acting on allegations against the officer of illegal gratification from different sources, Sambalpur Division’s vigilance officers intercepted Nayak while he was proceeding to Bargarh from Kuchinda by a private vehicle.
On searching, Rs 99,950 was also found from his possession which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Following interception, his office chamber, quarter inside Kuchinda Block, residential buildings at Bijepur and Bargarh town are being searched to unearth disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered against Nayak in this connection.
