Sambalpur: Hours after the brutal murder of a sleeping man at Bhalupali-Tileimal village in Sambalpur district, Ainthapalli police arrested the killer on Tuesday.
“The accused, identified as Ujjwala Munda, is a distant cousin of the deceased, Satyanarayan Munda. Ujjwala was arrested when he was seen moving suspiciously on a national highway. Police found the victim’s severed head in a bag he was carrying and arrested him,” Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora told the media.
The SP informed that the post-mortem of the deceased has been done and the accused will be produced in court tomorrow after interrogation.
Asked about the motive behind the murder, Arora said police were yet to ascertain the details. However, locals claimed that the killing was a fallout of a long-drawn dispute over some lands between the deceased and the accused.
Satyanarayan’s headless body was discovered by his family members in the morning. They told police that the deceased had slept on a cot outside the house due to excessive humidity last night.
