Bargarh: A postal staffer in Bargarh district has given a Sambalpuri twist to the popular Bollywood song ‘O Ghar Aja Pardesi’.
Asish Kumbhar, a postal assistant at Sohela post office, has written and sung a new version of the hit number from the blockbuster movie ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ by incorporating Sambalpuri lyrics.
The music for the remix is by Prabir Raj Purohit, who has used folk instruments such as Dhol, Madal, Nishan, Bansi, etc. to give the song an ethnic Sambalpuri touch. Dilip Kumar Behera has produced the song, which was originally sung by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik and Nihar S.
A video of the new song posted on YouTube has been gaining popularity by the day. Elated with the success of his experiment, Asish shared, “Famous Rangabati singer Padma Shri Jitendra Haripal had inspired me to sing this song.”
