Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has handed over the case registered against Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Dr Suraj Revanna to the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
ADGP (Law and Order) R Hithendra sent a message to the CID and SP of Hassan that the case registered at Holenarasipur rural police station of Hassan district has been transferred to the CID with immediate effect.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson Suraj — the brother of rape-accused Prajwal and son of HD Revanna, who is also facing sexual assault charges – was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a male party worker.
He was brought to the CEN Crime police station on Saturday evening following a complaint by a man alleging that he had been sexually abused in a farmhouse. The interrogation went on for several hours before Suraj was arrested.
An FIR was filed against Suraj at Hassan and a counter-complaint lodged by his close associate Shivakumar.
Suraj has been booked under section 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of IPC.
