Missing Samiti Member Candidate Traced In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: The missing Samiti Member candidate for Zone-I of Nuagaon panchayat under Hindol block in Dhenkanal district is who was missing since Wednesday has been traced.

The Samiti member aspirant, Subrat Behera, has been traced to Bhapur region under Sadar police limits in the district on Thursday.  He is reportedly safe in police custody and investigation is on.Details regarding the rescue are awaited. 

Earlier, his family members had alleged abduction and filed a complaint at Kantabania police station in this regard.

The family members claimed that Subrat left the house around 2.30 pm on February 2 to print pushing cards for campaigning but did not return and his phone was also switched off. He had gone to a shop near Jhadabandha along NH-57 under Balimi police limits.

When Subrat did not return home till late evening and his phone was also switched off, the family launched a search and later filed an FIR fearing kidnap.

During the investigation, police found Subrat’s slippers and two-wheeler near a pond. The search for the aspiring politician has intensified with help of scientific team and dog squad, stated reports.
