Samsung Takes On Xiaomi With M-Series, Starting Rs 7990

New Delhi: Facts first! Samsung lost the numero uno position in smartphone sales to Xiaomi in late 2017. Currently, the Chinese maker with its aggressively priced phones has the leading market share of 28 per cent while Samsung is at 24 per cent, according to report by Counterpoint Research. One of the primary reasons for this has been affordability.

Targeting millenials, Samsung on Monday launched their online-exclusive models Galaxy M-Series with an ‘India-first’ approach. The two phones launched, M10 and M20, have impressive specs such as Infinity-V displays, face-unlock and up to 5000 mAh battery.

The price Samsung Galaxy M10 in India is Rs 7,990 for 2GB RAM/16 GB storage and Rs 8,990 for 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. The M20 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage version is priced at Rs 10,990 while the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage version costs Rs 12,990.

The M20 has a slightly bigger 19.5:9 6.3-inch full-HD+ display. It is powered by an Exynos 7904 SoC, paired with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU and has a massive 5000 mAh battery. Camera-wise, it has a similar 13MP primary and 5MP ultra-wide secondary sensor on the rear while the front is a bigger 8MP unit.
The M20 has face-unlock, while the M10 only has fingerprint sensor. M20 gets USB-C fast charging, while M10 has micro-USB charge slot.
The phones will go on sale on Amazon and Samsung’s own e-store from February 5.
As part of launch offers, Jio customers can avail double data on Rs 198 and Rs 299 plans. Both phones are available in Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue colours.
Samsung announced that its newly expanded Noida plant is the largest mobile factory in the world.
