Mumbai: A couple of days after the sudden demise of young television actress Sanchita Ugale, serious allegations have surfaced against her ‘Saajan Ghar’ co-star Ujjwal Sharma.
Fellow-actor Indraxi Kanjilal has claimed that Sanchita faced harassment from Ujjwal when they worked together, adding a new dimension to discussions surrounding her demise.
The allegation has generated widespread attention on social media, as many from the television industry demanding a fair and thorough investigation into the matter.
However, Ujjwal has denied rumours suggesting that he was romantically involved with Sanchita.
“In fact, she was dating somebody else and was apparently living with that person. I haven’t spoken to her in a long time; around two to two-and-a-half months. I am currently in my hometown and have not been in proper contact with her,” Ujjwal was quoted as saying by TellyChakkar.
“She was going through a difficult phase because of her ex-boyfriend, and she was seeking help as well,” Ujjwal added.
Indraxi expressed strong disapproval of Ujjwal’s comments, alleging that he had subjected Sanchita to mental harassment.
Indraxi further said she was deeply disturbed by Ujjwal’s remarks about the late actress’ personal life and described his statements as insensitive.
“After Saajan Ghar went on air, I received a call from casting directors who were looking for a new female lead and wanted me to audition. I was surprised because Sanchita was already playing the lead role. That’s when I called her, and she narrated the entire ordeal. She told me that she was being harassed by her co-actor, Ujjwal Sharma, and it had begun affecting her health. She didn’t want to leave the show, but the trauma left her with no choice,” Indraxi claimed.
She further alleged that Ujjwal had borrowed money from Sanchita and reacted aggressively when she asked him to return it.
“Ujjwal had apparently borrowed money from Sanchita and later behaved rudely with her. When she asked him to return the money, he lashed out, humiliated her, and even threatened to hit her. I have screenshots of their chats where he used inappropriate language and insulted her,” revealed Indraxi, along with screenshots of their alleged conversations.
Indraxi further claimed that Sanchita had raised complaints about the alleged harassment with senior authorities associated with the show.
However, the actress eventually felt that no action will be taken and came to believe that the situation was unlikely to change.
