Puri: Renowned sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo created a sand art on Odisha’s Puri beach on the eve of International Women’s Day.
With the theme “Women are as courageous as men,” Manas has carved a 15-feet long sculpture with nearly 20 tonnes of sand showcasing the achievements of women and their contribution in establishing a strong image in the society.
It took Sahoo and the students of his Institute about 7 hours to complete the sculpture.
The International Women’s Day is observed throughout the world to showcase women’s achievements from the political to the social while calling for gender equality.
Though it has been observed since early 1900s, it is now recognised each year on March 8. The event brings together governments, women’s organisations, corporations and charities.
