Hyderabad: Allu Aravind, film producer and father of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rise’ actor Allu Arjun, said on Wednesday that financial aid of Rs 2 crore has been extended to the family of the 8-year-old boy who was injured in the December 4 Sandhya Theatre stampede and is still undergoing treatment.
The tragic mishap, which took place during Allu Arjun’s visit to the theatre for a premiere show of ‘Pushpa 2’, claimed the life of the boy’s 35-year-old mother.
The beleaguered Arjun, who was released on bail on December 14 the day after being arrested, was questioned by police on Tuesday regarding his involvement.
Veteran producer Aravind, along with fellow-producer and Telangana Film Development Corporation (FDC) chairman Dil Raju and others, visited the hospital where the is admitted. After speaking with doctors, Aravind expressed relief on learning that the minor is recovering and can breathe independently now.
Aravind told mediapersons that the boy, Sri Teja, is out of ventilator, and that financial support is being provided to his family.
“The boy, Sri Teja, is recovering. Now he is not on ventilator. To support the family, we should support him with Rs 2 crore: Rs 1 crore by Allu Arjun, Rs 50 lakh by Mythri Movie Makers and Rs 50 lakh by director Sukumar. We will give this money through Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju,” Aravind said.
Asked if he had visited the boy’s family, Aravind explained: “I cannot interact with the family due to the legal problems. With police permission once, 10 days back, I visited him. He was then recovering.”
Dil Raju said a meeting has been planned on Thursday with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
“We have taken an appointment. We have invited most of the prominent members of the industry,” said Raju.
