Bhubaneswar: Sangeet Natak Akademi will confer the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2018 on noted dancer from Odisha Madhulita Mpohapatra.
Madhulita will receive the award in the field of Odissi dance from the Sangeet Natak Akademi chairman at a special ceremony, the Akademi announced on Tuesday.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar is conferred on artists below the age of 40 years. The objective is to identify and encourage outstanding young talents in diverse fields of performing arts. It aims to give them national recognition early in their life, so that they may work with greater commitment and dedication in their chosen fields.
The Akademi has shortlisted 32 young artists in all to receive the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2018 in various performing arts.
