Mumbai: Rumours of trouble in Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik’s marriage did the rounds in 2022 after latter’s photoshoot with actress and model Ayesha Omar went viral on social media.
Neither India’s most successful female tennis player nor the former Pakistan cricket captain commented on the status of their marriage, though they have reportedly been living separately for more than a year now.
Some of their cryptic posts on social media left fans cow on several occasions in the recent past.
Now, another ambiguous post by Sania has fuelled fresh rumours of the star couple’s separation.
“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard,” read the first part of Sania’s message on Instagram Story on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old, who won six Grand Slam doubles (women and mixed) titles in a storied career, further mentions how everything in life is “hard” and we just have to make wise choices to overcome the challenges that we face.
Sania, who is currently covering the Australian Open as an expert on Sony Sports, got married to Shoaib in 2010, and the couple has a five-year-old son Izhaan.
Shoaib changed his Instagram bio last August from ‘Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza’ to ‘Father to One True Blessing’.
Sania, on the other hand, removed all her pictures with Shoaib from social media accounts, and has been living in Dubai with her son. Shoaib has reportedly shifted back to Pakistan after the alleged separation.
