Bhubaneswar: On successful acceptance and a positive response from women passengers to the Automatic Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines in Hirakhand Express and keeping in view the demand from the passengers, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has extended this service to important trains originating from its jurisdiction.
As part of ECoR’s drive to improve sanitation and hygiene, a total of 91 such vending machines have been installed in 36 trains.
The vending machines have been installed in the following trains:
Apart from trains, ECoR has already installed these facilities at Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Puri railway stations.
The price of one sanitary napkin is Rs 5. Passengers can get the napkins by inserting a Rs 5 coin in the vending machine. Each vending machine stores 75 napkins at a time.
