Sundargarh: A sanitation worker was allegedly hacked to death in broad daylight in Odisha’s Sundargarh town on Saturday.
According to sources, Babuli Kaka, the sanitation worker of Sundargarh NAC, had gone to supervise the works at Ranibagicha near the bypass in the afternoon. While he was engaged in the work, an unidentified person came to the spot with a sword and attacked Babuli.
As Babuli started running to save his life, the assailant gave a chase to him and caught hold of him afer a short distance. The assailant hit Babuli with the sword several times and fled.
Other sanitation workers rushed Babuli to the district headquarters hospital in the town. But he succumbed during the treatment.
A team from Sundargarh Town police station went to the incident spot and started investigation. They have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the unidentified assailant, the sources said.
