Sarada Prasanna Jena Quits Congress, Joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Congress leader Sarada Prasanna Jena resigned from the primary membership of the Congress and joined the Biju Janata Dal with over 500 Congress workers on Thursday.

He joined the BJD at Naveen Niwas in the presence of party president Naveen Patnaik. His supporters had come from Balikuda-Ersama Assembly segment in Jagatsinghpur district.

Expressing displeasure over ticket distribution for the upcoming elections, Jena had sent his resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik alleging he was “cheated” in the party.

Jena was a member of the Congress’ campaign committee.
