Jagatsinghpur: After being closed for around nine months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maa Sarala temple in Jagatsinghpur district will reopen on January 3.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Jagatsinghpur Collector Saroj Kumar Mishra on Monday evening.
As per the decision, the temple will remain open from 8 am to 12 noon and a maximum number of 500 devotees will be allowed to enter the shrine. However, persons above 65 years and children below 10 years will not be allowed.
The collector said the residents of Jagatsinghpur district need not show a COVID-19 negative report to enter the temple. However, people from outside the district will have to show the report.
He added that the temple will remain closed on Makara Sankranti on January 14 to avoid a large congregation of devotees.
