Sarpanch Candidates Made To Take Written Test In This Odisha Panchayat; Check The Result

Rourkela: In the run-up to the Panchayat elections, people in Kutra panchayat of Odisha’s Sundargarh district held a written test for its sarpanch candidates.

Nine candidates are in the fry from this panchayat. They have been campaigning with a lot of vigour for the five-phase elections slated to begin from February 16. While they have been using different means to woo the voters, villagers of Malupada were not impressed and instead put them to a written test.

While eight among them agreed to appear for the test, only three could clear it, sources said.

Check the seven questions here:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Cite five goals as a Sarpanch candidate?
  • What would you aim to achieve in the next 5 years, if elected as Sarpanch?
  • If you are in politics for social work, write about five welfare activities you have done so far? Will you be visiting door-to-door to solve the issues of the people with the same zeal as seeking votes for the Sarpanch post?
  • How many villages, wards and people are there in the Gram Panchayat?
  • Write two lines about the previous Sarpanch of the Panchayat.

The villagers of Malupada would now vote for one of the three sarpanch candidates who have passed the written examination.

The Odisha panchayat polls will be held in five phases between February 16 and 24. The counting of votes will be held on February 26, 27 and 28.
