Former Odisha state champion Satirtha Patnaik with his trophy in Raipur
Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha state champion Satirtha Patnaik cornered glory by bagging double crown at the All India Veteran Tennis Tournament, which was jointly organised by Chhattisgarh State Tennis Association and Chhattisgarh Sports & Youth Welfare Department, under the auspices of All India Tennis Association at VIP Club in Raipur from Setp 4 to 8.
A dentist by profession, Patnaik won the 35+ men’s singles title, defeating Delhi-based Odia opponent Dillip Mohanty 6-3, 6-1 in the final. He completed the double, pocketing the doubles title with Dillip Mohanty as his partner. They won the final, demolishing Chhattisgarh pair of Jatin Kumar Nelson and Kohinoor Gowardhan 6-1, 6-1.
Chhattisgarh Sports Minister handed over the trophies at the closing function. Patnaik was also awarded the Presidents Trophy for being the most outstanding performer of the tournament.
