Satya Maharana, Odisha’s Man Of Smallest Things Breaks His Own Record

Berhampur: Satya Maharana of Berhampur, who has set 25 international and national records for creating smallest artifacts in different mediums including wood, chalk, soap and sand, broke his own record this year by creating the smallest chariot of Lord Jagannath in teak wood having a height of 1.3 cm and width of 1.4 cm.

This ‘Nandighosha’ chariot weighing 500 to 600 mg is fitted with 16 wheels, four horses, the parswa deities, two parrots upside down, Dadhinauti and Patitapaban Bana. The height of Lord Jagannath idol inside the chariot is 1.5 mm. It took him four and a half hours to complete the work, said 36-year-old Satya.

Satya started making smaller version of the chariot of Lord Jagannath in 2016 with a height of 14 inches and idol of Lord Jagannath 1.4 inches.

Last year, he made a chariot with a height of 1.4 inches and Lord Jagannath idol of 5 mm height. Four leading institutions, including Asia Pacific Record, National Records, World Record of India and Indian Book of Records recognized his chariot as the smallest in the world and awarded certificates to him.

Satya, who has 10 USA records, one Grand Master Asia Book of Records, 7 India Book of Records and 3 World Record of India to his credit, said, “I am sure the smallest chariot that I have made this year on the occasion of Rath Yatra, would be recognized by many leading institutions of records.”

Satya has also set records in USA World Record Setters for the smallest elephant in chalk (8 mm), Ganesh idol in chalk (3 mm), car in chalk (7 mm), idol of Goddess Kali in chalk (2.20 cm), Ganesh in soap (4.8 cm), idol of Lord Shiva in chalk (2.5 cm), statue of President of India Ramnath Kovind in soap (5.5 cm), idol of Siridi Sai Baba in chalk (2.40 cm), statue of breast feeding mother in soap (5.5 cm) and chariot of Lord Jagannath in wood (8 inches).
