Satyabadi locals block NH over lineman’s death

Puri: Tension gripped Satyabad in Puri district on Thursday as locals blocked National Highway-316 following death of a lineman.

According to information, the deceased identified as Dillip Maharana suffered electric shock and died after coming in contact with a live wire while carrying out some repairs atop an electric pole.

Following the incident, an irate mob blocked the national highway with the dead body demanding adequate compensation to the family of the deceased. Vehicles remained struck on the busy road owing to the blockade.

The situation was later brought under control after police and district officials reached the spot and assured the agitators that their demand will be met.
