Save Energy By Stopping Cold Air Leaks Through Your Doors & Windows
Did you know cold air escaping under your door or via your window sill can result in an increased air conditioning bill?
If you feel cold air on your feet standing in your air-conditioned room, it is the cold air leaking out. This means the air conditioner has to work longer to cool your room and that equates to higher electricity bills.
Here are a few ways in which you can seal your doors and windows:
Use a simple draft guard cover This is the simplest solution for doors and does not require any tool. Simply slide the foam rolls under your door. Apart from saving electricity bill, it prevents insects and dust from getting inside.
Door Gasket Sealer This is another option that requires a bit of drilling and screwing. The nylon sweep gives a tight air seal. Like a draft guard, you can cut the size to fit your door. Do measure your door or window before ordering. A size larger is always a safe bet.
Foam/Rubber/Silicone Tape Sealer For windows and other sides of a door where a tighter custom seal is required, a foam adhesive tape can be used. This could involve opening the windows and applying the tape for a snug seal.
Caulking Some old windows and door frames require a more permanent fix. Liquid caulk can be applied into the holes using a caulking gun.
