The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder convict Pawan Gupta’s petition, claiming that he was a juvenile at the time of the offence.
A day before the hanging on February 1, the convict had filed the petition before the apex court, seeking review of its January 20 verdict dismissing this plea.
A Delhi court on January 17 issued death warrants for the second time for the execution of all the four convicts in the case — Mukesh Singh (32), Pawan (25), Vinay Sharma (26) and Akshay Singh (31) — at Tihar jail at 6 am on February 1.
Meanwhile, a dummy execution of the four death row convicts was performed at Tihar Jail on Friday, prison officials said.
