New Delhi: A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice L N Rao on Tuesday submitted a report to Chief Justice of India SA Bobde suggesting that the summer vacation of courts be curtailed to make up for the loss of work due to the coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown.
The bench advised the CJI to work using video-conferencing, and curtail the seven-week summer vacation to just two weeks.
“From next week onwards, we (the judges) will be sitting in courtrooms in the SC. Lawyers can argue from their chambers,” the bench told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta while hearing a case, as reported by TOI.
The summer vacation of the Supreme Court is scheduled to start from May 17.
