SC rejects MLA Sanjay Das Burma’s SLP in poll irregularities case

Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the special leave petition (SLP) filed by BJD leader and Bramhagiri MLA Sanjay Das Burma seeking annulment of a poll irregularities case against him. The case was filed by Congress leader late Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra.
Following the rejection of the SLP, hearings on the case will continue at the Orissa High Court as usual.
Mohapatra, who was in the fray against Das Burma during the 2014 assembly elections, had approached the Orissa High Court two years ago, alleging involvement of the latter in irregularities.
On July 24 2015, the High Court rejected a petition filed by Das Burma, seeking quashing of the poll petition.
Following which, he moved the apex court.
