Cuttack: Close on the heels of the alleged baby-swapping case in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, blood samples of the couple and their newborn girl was taken at the gynaecology ward of the hospital in presence of the Mangalabag Police on Saturday morning in tune with the directive of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here.
The blood samples were later submitted in the SJDM court.
IIC of Mangalabag Police Station Arun Kumar Swain said the blood samples submitted in the SDJM Court will be sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhubaneswar for DNA test in consonance with the court ruling.
He said police had sought permission from the court to conduct DNA test of the child and the court has allowed it.
Prahllad Mohapatra from Jajpur district had admitted his pregnant wife to the SCB Medical College and Hospital where she had delivered a baby girl on January 26. However, the couple did not accept the baby girl, alleging swapping of their newborn boy with the newborn girl by the hospital nurse.
The couple later lodged a complaint with the Mangalabag Police on January 29.
