SCB Forms Special Team For Treatment Of Jaga-Kalia

Cuttack: The authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack have made necessary arrangements for the treatment of the separated conjoined twin Jaga-Kalia, who will soon be discharged from AIIMS, Delhi.

Talking to the media on Monday, Emergency Officer of the SCB Dr Bhubanananda Maharana said the twin will be admitted to the special cabin in the neurosurgery ward reserved for MPs and MLAs.

A six-member team with specialists from neurosurgery, neurology, surgery and paediatrics departments have been formed for their treatment.

The state government had decided to shift the twins to the SCB after AIIMS-Bhubaneswar expressed reluctant to take them in due to lack of necessary facilities for their treatment.

The twins have been undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, after being successfully separated in an 11-hour marathon surgery by a team of 30 specialists from neurosurgery, neuro-anaesthesia and plastic surgery departments on October 25, 2017.

Recently, the father of the twins Bhuyan Kanhar had told the media that he had requested the state government to make necessary arrangements to shift them to Odisha to allow him to look after his parents and two children in his native village Milipada in Kandhamal district.
