Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee on Thursday discussed and prepared the schedule for the inauguration of the Heritage Corridor Project in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri on January 17.
The scheduled was prepared at a meeting of the temple managing committee presided by Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb.
As per reports, the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC), which is executing the work, is slated to hand over the completed project to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in the evening.
While the outer beautification work of 27 mutts and three temples within the limits of the corridor project has been completed, some works of three other mutts were reportedly still underway.
As per the schedule, the first phase of the ‘Yajna’ involving ‘Gua teka’ ritual and the ‘Ankura Ropana’ ritual will begin tomorrow.
Chief administrator of SJTA, Ranjan Das told media that several rituals and related works will be carried on for three days from January 15 to 17. The inauguration ceremony will be held on January 17 between 1.15 pm and 1.30 pm.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is slated to inaugurate the parikrama prakalp. After 3 pm, the devotees will be able to go around the parikrama and enjoy the cultural programmes.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the district police ahead of the inauguration ceremony. All activities will be under CCTV surveillance in the pilgrim town.
