Scheduled Airlines In India To Operate Up To Pre COVID Capacity From This Date

New Delhi: Scheduled airlines in India will be able to operate without any capacity restrictions from October 18, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said in a circular on Tuesday.

On September 19, the airlines were allowed to operate up to 85% of their pre-covid capacity on domestic flights, up from 72.5%.

The domestic operations resumed on May 25, 2020, after being grounded for two months during the COVID-induced lockdown to contain the pandemic with up to a third of their total capacity. The cap was later increased to 45%, then to 60%. and subsequently to 80%.

During May this year restrictions were back amid COVID resurgence and domestic flights were allowed to operate up to 50% of their total capacity.
