Sundaragada: An assistant clerk of a school has been taken into custody for allegedly misbehaving with two Class X girl students in Odisha’s Sundaragada district.
According to sources, the incident took place in a school located at Jamudihi under the jurisdiction of K Balang police station in the district.
It was alleged in a complaint that the incident first took place after the immersion procession following Ganesh Puja at the school. The girls reportedly remained silent out of fear after the incident. However, a similar incident allegedly occurred again, following which they informed their families about misconduct by the clerk.
Based on complaints lodged by the families of the minor victim girls, K Balang police launched a detailed investigation into the allegations. Police have taken the accused assistant clerk to the police station for questioning.
A case has been registered in this connection under the provisions of the POCSO Act. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the allegations and are also looking into whether any other person may have been involved.
Investigation is in progress and further details will be available after interrogation of the accused, said a senior police official.
