Keonjhar: A school headmaster has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with several girl students at a village in Telkoi area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
According to sources, the incident was reported from Dimiria Upper Primary school in Telkoi block of the district. The headmaster, identified as Narayan Senapati, was arrested on the basis of complaints lodged by around 12 girl students.
It was alleged that Senapati was misbehaving with girl students of Class VII and VIII after calling them to his office room in the school on different pretexts.
The matter came to light after some of the students narrated their experience to their parents, they said.
Angry over the incident, parents of the aggrieved students staged a protest at the school and demanded action against the headmaster.
On being informed, the additional block education officer and a police team visited the school and the headmaster was taken into custody.
The headmaster, however, dismissed the allegations as baseless and claimed that he always treated the students as his own children.
