Puri: A school headmaster has been apprehended on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl student in Krushnaprasad area of Odisha’s Puri district.
According to sources, the incident took place in a government upper primary school located at Nuapada under the jurisdiction of Krushnaprasad police station of the district on Saturday.
As per a complaint lodged by the the family of the girl, the headmaster, identified as P K Khuntia, allegedly asked the girl of class VII to stay back and water the plants on the school premises after classes.
All other students had left for home and the minor girl was watering the plants when the headmaster sexually assaulted her and asked her not to tell others, according to the complaint.
The girl narrated the incident before the family members after reaching home. Her family members lodged the police complaint agaisnt the headmaster on Sunday. Police registered a case and took the headmaster into custody on the basis of the complaint and further investigation is in progress, the sources added.
