Baripada: A Class IX student was found hanging in a private boarding school under mysterious circumstances in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
According to sources, the student, identified as Biswa Busan Nanda of Raighari village under Bisoi police station in the district, was studying in Saraswati High School at Analagunja village under Bangiriposi police station.
Biswa had dinner with other students in the hostel and then gone to sleep in his room on Thursday night. On Friday morning, some students found him hanging from ceiling fan in a classroom of the school and informed the hostel authorities.
On reaching the school, a team from Bangiriposi police station sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case and started investigation.
Speaking to media, Ashok Kumar Giri, principal of the school, said they were informed about the suicide of Biswa by some students. “We have informed the block education officer (BEO) of Bangiriposie and the DEO about the incident. The cause of suicide has not been ascertained as the investigation is going on.”
Giri further said Biswa was a normal and disciplined student and did not have any bad habits. “There was no study pressure on him. We are still in dark why he took the extreme step,” he added.
