Bhubaneswar: Students in Bhubaneswar created a record by illuminating the school campus with 1 lakh earthen lamps as part of Dev Deepawali celebrations after the grand Pran Pratishtha of Lord Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

The students of Vikash Residential School here surpassed Maharashtra’s Chandrapur Diya Event, which set a Guinness World Record by lighting 33,258 diyas, the ANI reported..

The programme was organised in the Cricket Stadium of the school and nearly 1000 students, teachers, and other staff lit diyas in an area of more than 350 feet in diameter, in a formation depicting Lord Rama, as sound of conch shells, cymbal and devotional songs amid chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ filled the air.

Mentor and Co-Founder of the Centre for Youth and Social Development (CSYD), Jagadanada, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and highly appreciated the efforts of the students.

Executive Director, Vikash Group of Institutions, V Srinivas expressed his gratitude to all the students and teachers for making this event successful.

Earlier on the auspicious occasion of inauguration of Shree Mandira Parikrama Prakalpa around Jagannath Temple in Puri on January 17, the students had lighted 30,000 diyas and shaped them into a breathtaking portrait of Lord Jagannath and the holy Nilachakra.
