Malkangiri: As heavy rain battered several parts of Odisha, the administration has declared closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres in Malkangiri district on Saturday.
According to sources, the district administration has declared holiday for all schools from primary to higher secondary level in the district.
The decision was taken as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued heavy rainfall alert for the district.
This apart, leaves of all government employees have also been cancelled, as per the direction of the administration. The Collector ordered the authorities concerned to keep the dry food available in the district.
It may be noted that the district has recorded a total of 804 mm rainfall since Friday. Chitrakonda recorded the highest 192 mm rainfall, followed by Khairput 142 mm, Malkangiri 136 mm and Korukonda 140 mm.
