Bhubaneswar: Dr Najma Heptulla, Governor of Manipur, has called for a scientific temperament in Social Science. She has also suggested that all branches of Science and Social Science be brought together under one umbrella.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 42nd Indian Social Science Congress at KIIT campus on December 27, she said India is a powerhouse in Science and Social Science. The result of research in Science and Social Science should reach the grass-roots. She also urged social scientists to spread knowledge and technology to every nook and corner of the country.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director, IBSD, Imphal, Manipur said, scientists and social scientists should work together for the betterment of the society. The theme of the Congress is ‘Human Future in Digital Era’. Indian Social Science Congress is the annual meet of social scientists organised by Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA).
More than 400 research papers will be presented during the five-day meet till December 31, while 28 subject research committees and 21 inter-disciplinary thematic panels representing all disciplines will discuss various aspects of Human Future in Digital Era. Dr Debendra Sharma will deliver the third B. V. Rangarao Memorial Lecture on Agriculture, while Dr Mark Lindley will give a lecture on Digitised World Economy.
