Dhenkanal: Seshadev Kisan aka Sesha, who overcame every odd to become a chemical scientist and made Odisha proud, announced at his wedding reception that he would open a pharma company ‘Dr Sesha Kisan Private Limited Company’ and spend its profit on the education of poor children.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Kisan said that the patients in Odisha will receive all five kinds of generic medicines, including diabetes, blood pressure, antibiotics, multivitamins, and gastric, within four months. All these medicines will be available at a cheaper rate, he said.
He added that his company will produce 500 to 1000 generic medicines along with those for diseases like cancer will also be prepared at the firm with headquarters in Bhubaneswar. He, however, refused to divulge details about funding for the project.
Kisan tied the nuptial knot with his lover Jayasree Jena, hailing from Naktideula village of Sambalpur, as per the Hindu rituals and traditions on November 10 in Dhenkanal. The couple registered their marriage at Redhakhol the following day.
Apart from advocate Parikshit Das and Redhakhol Tehsildar Debasis Patra, family members and relatives of the couple were present on this occasion.
From the cattle grazing field of the non-descript Balasingha village in the Sambalpur district to the prestigious Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany, chemical scientist Seshadev Kisan is an inspiration to many. He completed his schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sambalpur. He was the only student from the Naktideul block to get into Navodaya Vidyalaya where he studied from class VI to XII, having topped the entrance exam.
Kisan is also a gold medallist in Integrated Master of Sciences (MSc) from the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar. He then joined the globally acclaimed university in Germany as a research associate in 2018 with a monthly scholarship of €2,158 (approximately ₹1.8 lakh).
He has written a book, A Flower from Dumping Yard, on his life and struggles.
