Bhubaneswar: A scooter rider sustained critical injuries after his two-wheeler slammed into a stationary truck parked on the Acharya Vihar overbridge along National Highway 16 (NH-16) in the Odisha capital on Wednesday evening.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital, where his condition remains serious.
According to s
ources, the accident took place when the rider was traveling from Vani Vihar towards Baramunda. The truck had reportedly broken down and was parked along the busy overbridge, awaiting repairs. The front portion of the two-wheeler was extensively damaged, and the rider suffered major injuries under the impact of the crash.
Locals, who witnessed the mishap, immediately rushed to his aid, and informed Saheed Nagar police. the injured rider was then shifted to Capital Hospital.
Traffic on the busy NH-16 stretch was temporarily disrupted, with hundreds of vehicles stranded on the flyover until traffic police intervened and cleared the area.
Police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
