Bhubaneswar: A scooter rider died after reportedly being hit by the vehicle of Rajya Sabha member from ruling BJD Niranjan Bishi at Tamia Chhak in Patnagarh of Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Tankadhar Biswal of Inpur village.
Sources said that the accident took place when the driver was on his way home and lost control over the vehicle. The victim was rushed to Patnagar hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. He reportedly died on the spot after being dragged by the vehicle into a nearby field.
The driver of the MP’s car has surrendered at Larambha police following the mishap.
The MP told the media that he was not present in the car at the time of the accident. Expressing grief over the matter, he also assured to extend help to the family of the deceased.
