Madras: In a tragic incident, a man and his minor son were charred to death after the firecrackers they were carrying on their two-wheeler exploded, in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district on Thursday.
A CCTV footage of the incident that has since gone viral, shows a two-wheeler suddenly bursting into flames after dodging another two-wheeler coming from a wrong side. The man on the scooter with crackers lost control and fell down.
Preliminary investigation state that the boy, aged around 7, was seated on two bundles of firecrackers kept tightly tied in the front of the two-wheeler. Friction and pressure along with speed driving might have led to the explosion, said police.
Appearance of the other two-wheelers from the opposite side could have led to a jerk, causing friction, he added. Three others, including the person on the two-wheeler coming on the opposite side, suffered injuries, stated reports in NDTV.
The deceased are Kalainesan (35) and his son Pradesh (7).
