Dengue Death Reported In SCB, Toll Rises To 2

Cuttack: The authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital on Monday confirmed a dengue death, the second of this season.
The deceased was identified as Trailokya Barik of Dimiria village under Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district.
Sources in the hospital said Barik was admitted to the Medicine ICU on June 22 in a critical condition. He died on Sunday night while undergoing treatment.
Dengue Nodal Officer Dr Siba Prasad Mohanty, confirmed the death.
Superintendent of the hospital Prasanna Kumar Debata said a special dengue ward with 150 beds has been set up. For treatment of critical patients, six ventilators have been installed in the ward, he added.
“Blood samples of the suspected dengue patients are being tested. If any patient is diagnosed with dengue, arrangements have been made for their special treatment and care,” he added.
A woman was the first victim of dengue this season on June 7. She had succumbed to the vector-borne disease at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
