Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported the first swine flu case of the season on Sunday after the swab sample of a woman tested positive for H1N1 virus.
The patient from Nachuni in Khurda district was admitted to a private hospital after she complained of cold and cough. The tests conducted at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), later confirmed the infection.
Since the 23-year-old woman has no travel history, it is yet to be ascertained how she contracted the virus.
Last year, the state recorded highest-ever cases with 50 deaths among 400 positive cases since the resurgent attack of swine flu in 2009.
A total of 92 cases were reported in 2010, while 13 among 75 affected persons lost their lives to the virus in 2015. However, only one case was detected in 2016.
