Bhadrak: The district administration has extended the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC within 200-metre radius of Vedanta-Facor plant at Randia within Bhadrak Rural police limits in Odisha for another 48 hours as a precautionary measure.
The restriction will remain in force till 6 am on April 19.
This followed the death of one of the workers, who were airlifted to National Burns Hospital in Mumbai in a critical condition, last night, sources said.
This is for the third time that the enforcement has been extended with no signs of improvement in the situation. The prohibitory orders were clamped on April 12 after tension flared up over the industrial mishap in which two workers sustained severe burn injuries and it continued till 6am on April 14. Later, the orders were extended and remained in force till April 16.

On April 11, two contract workers suffered critical injuries after molten metal fell on them at the charge chrome plant. Following which, irate workers along with local anti-socials ransacked the plant office, damaging machinery and equipment besides assaulting security personnel and officials.
The labourers’ union of Vedanta-Facor also lodged an FIR against seven management staff for the mishap and demanded their immediate arrest, alleging that two similar mishaps had taken place in the plant within 20 days due to the management’s callousness.
