Bhubaneswar: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Wednesday said the second bridge over Brahmani river in Rourkela will be completed by November 2020.
“The construction of the second bridge over Brahmani which began on May 23 this year will be completed by November 2020. The six-lane bridge will have a total length of 29.1 km,” Chief General Manager and Regional Officer of NHAI, Dharmananda Sarangi told mediapersons here.
He said the construction work of the bridge could not start on time due to delay in forest clearance by the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF).
Hyderabad-based GKC Projects Ltd will take up construction work of the bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 381.75 crore, he added.
Sarangi further said that apart from Rourkela, the construction of six more bridges over Brahmani is underway in Bonai in Sundargarh, Barkot in Deogarh and Sarang in Dhenkanal and construction of the bridge at Jajpur Road, Jenapur and Jarka in Jajpur district will start very soon.
