Rayagada: In a dramatic incident on Monday morning, a young man climbed a mobile tower at Kalyansinghpur in Odisha’s Rayagada district and allegedly threatened to end his life, causing panic among locals.
The individual has been identified as Trilochan Kashi, a resident of Kumbhar Sahi.
According to sources, Kashi had allegedly cons
umed alcohol before scaling the tower early in the morning. Locals panicked on finding him atop the tower and immediately informed police. A joint team of police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
Through persistent persuasion and coordinated efforts, firefighters successfully brought him down safely. Following which, he was detained at Kalyansinghpur police station for questioning.
This comes two days after a 30-year-old man, dismissed from the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) constable post in 2020 on medical grounds, climbed up a mobile tower in Dhenkanal town and threatened to die by suicide if his job was not reinstated and Rs 25 lakh not paid to him by the state government.
