Jagatsinghpur: In a shocking incident, a secret camera was reportedly found inside the women’s washroom of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) office in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur.
According to sources, police have seized the device following a complaint lodged at Tirtol Police Station. A thorough investigation has been lau
nched to identify the individual who installed the camera and the reason behind the act.
The incident came to light when a female employee of the DRDA office had gone to the washroom on May 25. After she entered the washroom, the hidden camera reportedly fell on the floor.
Scared and shocked over the sudden incident, the employee immediately moved out of the washroom and informed the Additional Executive Officer.
Additional Executive Officer Girija Shankar Mallik lodged a formal complaint at Tirtol Police Station on May 26 regarding the incident.
Initiating a swift action, a police team visited the DRDA office and initiated a probe. The seized camera is being examined as part of the investigation.
The incident has raised serious concerns over the privacy and safety of women employees at the government office.
Reacting sharply to the incident, Zilla Parishad President Manoj Bhoi demanded a thorough probe and strict action against those involved in the act.
