Bhadrak: As a precautionary measure during Ram Navami celebrations, the Bhadrak district administration, on Saturday, imposed Section 144 in the area. The district had witnessed communal violence during the celebrations last year.
“The prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC has been clamped from 6 pm and would be in force for an indefinite period. As many as 25 platoons of police force and 50 police personnel have been deployed in the town to prevent any untoward incident during the celebrations”, informed Bhadrak Collector Gyana Das.
Flag march was also conducted by armed forces in the locality, Das added.
It may be recalled that more than 30 people were arrested following a communal violence during Ram Navami procession on April 5, 2017. The incident took place after a group of people posted offensive remarks on Hindu deities on social media.
