Bhadrak: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC were clamped near Vedanta-Facor plant at Randia in Odisha’s Bhadrak on Wednesday following tension after two workers were critically injured in a fire mishap on Tuesday.
The prohibitory orders imposed by the district administration of Bhadrak will remain in force around 200-metre radius of the plant till 6am on April 14, according to sources.
Police personnel in strength have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident. The prohibitory orders were clamped as tension erupted in the area after several workers and people from nearby villages staged a protest and tried to create disturbance following the fire mishap.
The injured workers were identified as Purna Chandra Sutar from Koranta and Bijay Kumar Behera from Randia in the district. They sustained severe burn injuries in the fire mishap while working in the plant.
The two were initially taken to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment. However, they were later air-lifted to the National Burns Centre in Mumbai on the advice of doctors after their health deteriorated, the sources said.
The plant authorities were not immediately available for comment.
