Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Tuesday apprehended a section officer in the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) at Papdahandi in Nabarangpur district while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from a retired school headmaster to process his pension papers.
An official release said that Ranjit Kumar Sadangi was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 10,000/- at BEO office in Papdahandi the retired headmaster in order to process the pension papers pending with him since retirement of the complainant in 2011.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sadangi.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sadangi from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case has been registered under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and investigation is in progress.
